Today, there is an insufficient level of integration of modern achievements of science and technology into everyday investigative practice, which reduces the effectiveness of investigations in the field of environmental protection. This actualizes the need for the development of special methodological approaches to technical and forensic support, which will take into account the diversity and peculiarities of the objects of the natural environment, the nature of the damage caused, the specificity of the objects of evidence and the need to use special knowledge. The purpose of the article was to reveal the content of technical and forensic support of certain investigative (search) actions carried out during the investigation of criminal offenses against the environment. The article examines the issue of technical and forensic support for investigative (search) actions in criminal proceedings regarding offenses against the environment. The relevance of a comprehensive approach to the classification of technical means used during pre-trial investigation is substantiated. The classification of forensic technical means by functional purpose, subject of application, procedural role and level of technological complexity of the means itself is proposed. It was determined that effective technical support is a key factor in qualitative detection, recording, extraction and analysis of traces of environmental crimes. The importance of the participation of specialized specialists, as well as the introduction of modern technologies, including remote monitoring, geodetic equipment, spectral visualization, and digital tools for recording evidentiary information, is revealed. A conclusion was made about the need for systematic modernization of the technical and forensic support of environmental investigations as a condition for ensuring the appropriate level of environmental safety.
