Welcome to the website of the scientific journal "Archive of Criminology and Forensic Sciences" (https://archive-criminology.com.ua/journal).
The Editorial Board deeply respects the right to privacy and strives to ensure maximum transparency regarding how personal information is collected, used, and protected. This policy is designed in accordance with modern data protection standards, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Law of Ukraine "On Personal Data Protection".
Information Collection and Use
When you interact with our website—reading articles, submitting manuscripts for review, or joining our team of reviewers—we collect certain information necessary to ensure a high-quality and timely editorial process.
If you are an author, we require your first and last name, contact email address, place of work (affiliation), academic degree, academic title, and unique researcher identifiers (e.g., ORCID). This information is critical not only for communicating with you during the manuscript processing but also for its proper publication and securing your copyright.
For peer reviewers and Editorial Board members, we additionally store information about their areas of scientific interest and reviewing history. This helps us efficiently match experts to review specific scientific articles.
Furthermore, during regular browsing by readers, the system automatically receives standard technical data: IP address, browser type, and page interaction details. This helps us maintain general traffic statistics and improve the journal's electronic platform.
Purpose of Data Processing
The primary goal of data collection is to support the full lifecycle of a scientific publication. This information is used to organize peer review, editing, communicate with the author regarding the manuscript's status, and publish the results of scientific research. The Editorial Board is committed to maintaining an open and reliable scientific environment.
Information Sharing and Indexing
Author data will not be shared with third parties for commercial purposes. The metadata of published scientific articles (which includes authors' names, affiliations, ORCIDs, contact email addresses, etc.) is mandatorily transmitted to international scientometric databases, repositories, and DOI registration agencies (such as Crossref, DOAJ, Scopus, Web of Science etc.). This ensures that all scientific works are visible and citable within the global academic community.
The Editorial Board conducts plagiarism checks on manuscript texts. In its operations, the Editorial Board is guided by the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Data Retention and Scientific Archive
User accounts on the journal's website are retained as long as they remain active or until a deletion request is received.
However, it is important to understand a crucial aspect of scientific publishing: authors' names and contact details provided directly in published articles become an inseparable part of the global scientific archive. To preserve historical and scientific integrity, this public metadata is stored indefinitely. As a general rule, it cannot be deleted or hidden even if consent for personal data processing is withdrawn, as doing so would violate the principles of transparency and openness of scientific information.
User Rights
You have full control over your confidential information and can always submit a request to: obtain a copy of the data held about you; correct inaccuracies in your profile; delete your account (subject to the scientific archive exceptions described above); restrict processing, or withdraw consent for receiving informational newsletters.
The Editorial Board will endeavor to fulfill requests within 7 business days.
Protection and Security
The Editorial Board of the "Archive of Criminology and Forensic Sciences" implements appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect information from unauthorized access, loss, or alteration. The Editorial Board uses secure encryption protocols when transmitting data to the journal's website, restricts access to databases, and strictly monitors the anonymization of files during the peer review procedure.
Cookies
The journal's website uses cookies for basic user session support and to collect aggregated, non-personalized visitor analytics. Users can independently manage cookie permissions in their respective browser settings.
Contacting the Editorial Board
